E-Stress Management

Pauline LummasPauline Lummas, M.Sc., B.Soc.Sc (Hons), Dip. Stress Management Training, MASC, SEDA  Accredited Higher Education Teacher.

"I am a certified university teacher and Member of Associated Stress Consultants. I am also a member of the International Stress Management Association and the Learning & Performance Institute of the UK. I studied at the Universities of Manchester and London, completing my training in stress management (with distinction) with the Stress Consultancy in Sheffield in 2006.

I have 17 years’ experience as a lecturer in psychology and social-science, and seven years’ experience as a stress management trainer.
As a trainer, I see first-hand how effective stress management can be. I created E-Stress Management to offer the same benefits to stressed people from every walk of life – particularly those who prefer self-help and online learning, or have no access to other forms of help.

E-Stress Management is based on the same professional code of ethics that I follow in my training work. The course is founded on principles of equal opportunity, and respects the individuality of each participant and the diversity of the groups they belong to.

Since developing E-Stress Management, I’ve received positive feedback from all sorts of people, all over the world:

Unless you’ve been through it you don’t know the pressure of being a mum and a worker.  Looking back I don’t know how I held it together for so long.  I ended up doing neither job very well – and things started to get me down.  I had no time or money for personal appointments for help with stress, and didn’t know where to go in any case.  I avoided the doctor as I didn’t want to go on tablets.  A friend told me about this online course, and I gave it a go. I’m glad I did as I feel so much stronger now.  It wasn’t always easy to find the time – and there is so much in the course I don’t think I managed everything.  I still go back to it from time to time and still learn from it.”
We moved here because of my husband’s job.  Everything is so different, and I felt very lonely and was a long way from my own country, family and friends. There were many stresses for me and I spent a lot of time on the internet.  That’s how I started to read about stress – and came across the E-Stress Management training course.  I have a different attitude now, and am enjoying things much more. It helped me a lot.”

The most valuable help I could have found.  The online format suited me perfectly as I was able to follow the course – and do the exercises – in my own time.”

“I have high blood pressure which the doctor says could be due to stress. He recommended stress management and put me on to E-Stress Management.  I was worried at first because there is heart disease in my family and I wanted to take steps to avoid things getting worse.  Through the course I’ve started to get things in perspective - and I’ve learned how to relax.  I’m getting-on much better, and my doctor is pleased with my progress.”

“I would recommend the course to anyone who knows they are stressed and has decided to do something about it.”

“My troubles began when I lost my wife and reached retirement in the same year.  After a while I realised I was avoiding people and hardly left the house at all.  I felt lonely and depressed.  My daughter is a nurse - and she talked to me about stress and found this e-training course for me.  I wasn’t convinced at first but did it to keep her happy.  Even so, it’s made a big difference and given me a new outlook on things.  I now have things I look forward to, and life is getting back to normal.”
